From Cardboard Boxing to Corona Vacationing

Why WILLIE wants to Go to Hell

Thomas Haden Church portrays a homeless man on skid row in Los Angeles that just doesn't want to stay in any shelters or rescue missions.

BY DANIEL SCOTT TAYLOR

Since the Pandemic started, we've been outside in Sports Arenas and warehouses in industrial areas trying to get housing urban development (HUD) to throw us into one or two bedroom apartments so we can enjoy smoking weed indoors and drinking alcohol without being stuck on the street.

Here's a character that doesn't like going to sleep early and spends time, digging in the trash for food to eat. Until, he finds a torn up diary partially burned from a fire nearby in L.A

Willie decides to read it in his cardboard box on 5th Street, after being robbed for his sleeping bag at gun point by two Mexicans, looking for drugs and electronic equipment to sell for crack.

Slowly, he learns to read cursive writing and finds out the little girl he's reading about has lost her mother.

I find the story disturbing because Willie doesn't want to communicate with the black guys he's around like Methuselah, another homeless man who stays on 5th Street a few boxes down and the Taxi Cab driver that feeds them real fast food and hangs out with them from time to time.

Eventually, a Eminem character comes through in a black Ford Bronco with his Italian buddy, offering any homeless person $50 to fight another random homeless so they can film it on camera to sell on Social Media.

Willie ends up enjoying his new job, beating up homeless black people for money to stay in $60 hotel for the night to watch TV and have sex with black crack hookers for $5 in bathroom Porto potties outside.

He eventually makes a friend with a military vet named Pinky who has lost both of legs in the war in Iraq.

Again, Willie is plotting thinking about Pinky's disability check, as he continues reading the little girls diary on the street.

Pinky is addicted to heavy street drugs and ends up having to panhandle and take care of Willie by throwing him money.

All I could think about as I watched this film, is how many people are staying in tents downtown right now, drinking Wild Turkey, smoking cigarettes and ignoring people everyday on the street, unless they sell drugs openly or offer to feed them.

Willie, eventually ends up killing a homeless black man for hitting his friend, the Slim Shady character in the head with a skillet that owed him money.

Shortly, afterwards, Pinky dies of an overdose on a cold night on 5th Street.

Willie must feel responsible for this because he doesn't fight Methuselah for $100 like Em's D-12 wanted on Devil's night in the city of lost angels.

Still, he refuses to check into a Rescue Mission or Men's Shelter. Willie ends up telling a pretty young female Church Evangelist, that he doesn't want to go to Heaven, he wants to go to Hell.

In the next hour or two, while standing on the same corner, the little girl who's diary he was reading appears, her face burned from the fire with 3rd degree burns.

The movie ends with Willie hugging the little girl. He got his wish.
